Top level team faq’s *All Fees & Structures Subject to Change

About Top Level Teams: Top Level is for players that want to play the game at a high level and enjoy the training and work it takes to play the game with and against other high level players. Top Level believes that for the best opportunity for a players development, is having an environment in which they are surrounded by other players who are just as good in which playing time, practices and games are competitive.

Top Level Teams Invited Roster Spots:

Committed Player: All players who receive an invite and accepting a team roster spot pay a 1X team annual registration fee of $345. Monthly Team Practice Fee Dues ($345) for approximately 2 practices per week (weather and holiday’s permitting). Monthly Fees do not cover games, tournament or additional Open Workouts ($45 - $75 per local game). A coaches invitation as a committed player are for players who expect to make to make the majority of their team’s events and will prioritize their Top Level team Tournaments and Games over other sports, teams, etc. Top Level coaches can take as many as 12-16 committed players on their roster based on who they feel will be an asset to the team. *Please note: A few of the Top Level Elite teams are ($50-$100) additional per month and $10-$20 per game.

Practice Player/Alternate Tournament Player: Players invited and accepting an Alternate Tournament Player roster spot are invited to participate in all team’s practice and off-field events. Practice Players pay the $345 1X team annual registration fee and $345 Monthly Fees for 2 practices per month. Alternate Tournament Players will be players the coaches invite to fill in at Tournaments/Games. Monthly Fees do not cover games, tournament or additional Open Workouts, which would be all A La Carte. Alternate Tournament Players are players who can not commit and/or who a coach doesn’t feel confident that he would be able to invite to a Tournament and get playing time.

Tryouts & Team/Open Workouts FAQ’s

Q: Are the teams year round?

A: Teams will start up after Labor Day September and will end in June or early July. 12U Cooperstown team would end its season after Cooperstown (which could be in June, July or August)

Q: For players who make a Top Level team, and once the fall season begins, how many times per week do they practice? And where are their games/tournaments located?

A: Typically teams will have two “team” practices per week consisting of either a field (1 or 2), batting or Pitcher/Strength & Conditioning. There will be an additional Open Developmental Workouts and Practices available during week for Fielding, Batting Cages, Strength & Conditioning, Pitching, Catching and other Team and Open Workouts via all an A La Carte Menu to take advantage of as much or as little as a family/players wants too. 2022-23 Top Level 9U-14U teams will most likely play in a Fall League Double Header every other Sunday. We have typically entered our teams in the West Hills Perfect Game Sunday League or USSSA Camarillo League. During off weekends from the League, teams will either have a friendly and/or be entered into a Tournament (avg 1-2 times per month). Out of Town Tournaments will be offered to the teams include Vegas in November, Arizona in February and Omaha in June.

Q: What is the Team Committed Player Monthly Fee? Does the Fee cover the monthly team practices and/or tournaments?

A: Players who are invited to a committed roster spots will receive a “Priority Invite” to Tournaments and Games. If a player is not performing, missing team events or in the judgement of the coach another player has earned a Priority Invite, the coach has full discretion to switch a player from committed to alternate. All players must earn their invite and playing time throughout the entire year.

Q: If we make a team do we have to sign a contract committing to the entire year?

A: No, Top Level doesn’t have families sign year long contracts, because Top Level believes that if it is the wrong fit for a player and family, it doesn’t want a family to be financially bound to a team that is not working for them. Top Level will always support a player that chooses to leave because another program will work better for them. All Top Level asks is for a 30 day advanced notice and all team fees being covered.

Q: If we don’t get invited to a Top Level Team, can we still join the Open Developmental Workouts & Training Sessions

A: Players who don’t receive an invite to a Top Level team will also be notified if they’ve been invited to the Developmental Open Workouts. There will be many instances where players are not invited to the team but are invited to the Open Workouts, where the team coaches will be and where they work hard and the coach begins inviting them to the team as they improve.

Q: Can we play for another travel ball team or play in our local rec Little League and still do the Open Workouts

A: There are many players that aren’t on a Top Level team that participate in our Open Workouts.

Q: Where will Top Level Practices and Workouts be held?

A: Top Level uses one of the following locations:

  • Field Practices: Clover Field, PenMar, WLA Little League, Memorial & Marine Field (Santa Monica)

  • Pitcher / Strength & Conditioning Programs: St. Monica’s High School

  • Batting Cages: Pacific Coast Baseball (2020 Stoner)

  • Scrimmage Games: Clover, Memorial, Marine Field & Santa Monica High School

Q: We are interested in the Teams. Where are the Travel Ball League Games & Tournaments Located and how often are they and do they travel out of the local area and out of state at all?

A: Locations of League and Tournaments:

  • Fall & Spring League Sunday Double Headers: We typically enter our teams in the USSSA Travel Ball Sunday League in West Hills, Camarillo, Simi Valley or Santa Clarita. Teams will play in 8 Fall Games and 10 to 12 Spring League Games.

  • Tournaments: Typically teams play in 1 - 2 Tournaments per Month (Sept - June). Local Tournaments are located as close as PenMar to as far as Camarillo in the West, Santa Clarita in the North, Jurupa Valley Big League Dreams Park in the East, to Great Park in Irvine in the South. Teams may play 3 Out of State Tournaments per year, including Las Vegas (either Veteran’s Day Weekend or President’s Day Weekend), Arizona during MLB Spring Training in March and Omaha during the College World Series in June. The 12U team will do Cooperstown in the Summer and most likely not the Omaha Tournament that year. Teams, like this past year’s 14U-Elite who won a Super NIT and qualified for the Florida Elite World Series in July (Winning a Super NIT and qualifying for the Florida World Series is incredibly difficult and not something teams can expect).
